This guide will walk you through the high-level steps of creating a loan in Hypercore. For more in-depth knowledge, refer to our other guides.

You can create a new loan from various locations within Hypercore:

: The most common way to create a new loan.

: Add a loan directly to a specific client.

: Create loans as part of a workflow - already connected to a specific client.

: A different process entirely. For more details, contact your Customer Success Manager.

 If the first repayment is not in-line with the frequency, you can manually set via the 

Custom amortization allows you to enter the principal repayments in a variety of methods:

Step 4: Configuring Interest and Compounding Terms

When configuring interest in Hypercore, you’ll define how interest accrues, the repayment frequency, and whether it compounds over time.

Interest Type: Simple vs Compounding (PIK)

Here are the differences between Simple and Compounding Interest accrual/repayment frequencies

This defines how often interest is paid by the borrower (e.g., monthly, quarterly).
        

 determines how often unpaid interest is 

 defines how often payments are expected.
        

If no payments are made, interest continues to accrue and compound based on the set accrual schedule.

Utilization Assumptions is Hypercore's way of setting up your Expected Disbursements.

To set up expected disbursements you will need to provide an amount and date.

When adding expected disbursements, the % of approved amount will automatically be calculated.

Note: Fees can also be compounded using a dedicated toggle that opens additional settings like accrual frequency.

Deposits in Hypercore are a form of reserve within the loan. The borrower pays a predefined amount upfront, which is later used to cover future repayments. Here's how to configure a deposit:

A deposit is set to be paid on the first disbursement and is equal to 3 expected repayments. If the interest accrued is $10k/month and the condition is 'interest only', the borrower will pay $30k up front. Hypercore will then automatically use this to repay the first three monthly interest payments.

The General Settings section defines core assumptions used throughout the loan, including day count conventions, repayment rules, and working day logic.

For example if a loan pays interest in advance every month you can have a repayment on April 1 that is effective for May 1 (i.e. on April 1 the borrower will repay interest that is accrued between April 1 and May 1).

It is highly recommended to preview the loan schedule

Make any necessary adjustments to the loan details if needed.

Once submitted the loan will be created and in the Pending status

 once the application is submitted.
If the page is exited before submission - whether by clicking outside the application, closing the tab, or due to server/internet issues - all progress will be 

 To avoid losing work, consider quickly outlining the key fields and submitting the loan. You can always return later to edit and complete the details.

If you encounter errors when saving, check that all required fields are filled out and formatted correctly.

Creating a Loan

Hypercore’s Loan Schedule is presented in the preview when the user sets the loan terms and after the terms have been submitted. It provides a view of loan transactions, repayments, and accruals. The schedule is designed to mirror familiar spreadsheet layout. It dynamically updates based on user inputs.

The schedule consists of multiple columns:

 – Calculation-effective date (may differ from Date).

 – Describes the event (e.g., Disbursement, Repayment, Accrual).

Original Issue Discount (OID) (if applicable)

Hypercore’s schedule functionality incorporates daily interest calculations to deliver the most precise interest repayment outcomes. Users can define the basis for these calculations, choosing between 360 days per year, 365 days, 364 days, actual days in the year, and 30/actual days per month. This approach ensures:

Accurate accruals tracking on a day-to-day basis

Precise calculation of interest for partial periods

Better handling of irregular payment schedules

To view the detailed daily calculations, expand the loan schedule view and click on a 'big row'. This action will reveal all the underlying daily charged rows and transactions.

Example calculation based on the provided image:

For a loan balance of $1,000,000 with an annual interest rate of 10%, the daily interest for February 1 is calculated as follows:

This matches the structure shown in the schedule image, where each day's interest is computed individually.

The schedule includes filtering options to display specific column types:

Show Principal - Show or hide detailed principal columns

Show Interest - Show or hide detailed interest columns

Show Compounding - Show or hide detailed compounding interest columns

Show Fees - Show or hide detailed fee columns

Show Penalties - Show or hide detailed penalties columns

Show Effective Date - Show or hide effective date column

Show Accrued Interest - Show or hide accrued (compounding) rows

Show Deleted Expected Repayments - Show previously deleted expected repayments

By default, expected repayments are shown only after the last recorded transaction. Expected transactions dated in the past do not affect the schedule unless settings are adjusted to display them.

Enabling "Show Accrual" displays daily accrual rows, representing the interest accumulated each day.

The "Show Deleted Expected Repayments" setting allows users to display rows that were previously deleted from the schedule.

Users can control which columns to display or hide to tailor the schedule view to their specific needs.

By default, Hypercore’s schedule displays expected repayments after the last recorded transaction. Expected transactions dated in the past will not affect the schedule or reduce outstanding amounts unless settings are adjusted. Users can modify these settings to view all expected transactions, including those with past-dated entries.

Users can manually set expected repayments by entering values in the designated yellow-highlighted manual amount fields, as shown in the image. This provides full control over how repayments are allocated, allowing precise adjustments when needed.

While many repayment adjustments should be handled using the "Update Terms" function, manual repayment overrides should be used for edge cases where updating loan terms is not feasible. Examples include:

Making a one-time adjustment without affecting future scheduled payments

Temporarily overriding a repayment amount due to an exceptional case

Managing a unique fee or penalty without altering the loan's structure

By using manual overrides selectively, users can maintain accurate repayment records while preserving loan terms for standard adjustments.

Step 1: Click the ellipsis menu next to the repayment and select "Update Expected Repayment"

Step 2: Enter the adjusted expected repayment breakdown.

Step 3: Click "Submit" to view the adjusted schedule. The yellow highlight showing $8.5K indicates the user-modified repayment amount. After applying an override, the system automatically recalculates interest and updates the schedule.

Users can also revert an override if needed, which restores the original expected repayment values. The following image shows how to revert an override in the schedule.

Hypercore provides three distinct schedule views:

 Displays all live transactions and updates, reflecting both past and present activities of the loan, showing the actual current loan position. Future outstanding principal and interest calculations exclude any planned future disbursements

 Displays projected future transactions based on current loan terms, including expected repayments. Future outstanding principal and interest calculations incorporate planned future disbursements. This view helps users anticipate upcoming cash flows and assess future loan activity.

 Preserves the loan's initial schedule before any modifications, providing a reference for comparison against expected and current schedules. This view does not reflect any term updates, repayments, or disbursements made after the loan's inception.

The platform supports multi-tranche loan management:

The schedule combines transactions and expected repayments from all tranches, providing a comprehensive view of loan activity.

Each daily charge row shows the total interest charges across all tranches. For instance, if Tranche A accrues $500 in daily interest and Tranche B accrues $700, the schedule shows a consolidated daily charge of $1,200.

Identify the specific error or unexpected behavior.

Customizing Schedule View - helpful when troubleshooting

Hypercore calculates interest on a daily basis, which can sometimes lead to unexpected results if not properly understood:

Daily Interest = (Outstanding Principal * Annual Interest Rate) / 365 or 360 (depending on day count setting)

Common issues with daily interest calculations:

Incorrect day count convention (Actual vs. manual 365/360 days) causing small discrepancies

Leap year calculations affecting long-term loans

Compounding (Accrual) start and end dates do not align with expectations

Verify the day setting in the loan terms and ensure it matches your loan agreement.

Click on a schedule row to expand it and view the 

 Repayment is incorrectly distributed across principal, interest, and fees.

Manual components allocations overriding default behavior.

 The amount disbursed doesn't match the entered amount.

Interest accrues unexpectedly after a repayment.

Transactions appear in unexpected reporting periods.

: The calculated redemption amount differs from expectations.

Repayment penalties or fees not considered

The interest accrual cutoff date misunderstood

Outstanding fees or penalties not included

Compounding interest is not accruing or capitalizing as expected.

 Use the Early Redemption calculator tool in Hypercore - Confirm all outstanding balances are included in the calculation.

Make sure the terms and fees are aligned to your loan.

 Interest calculations differ from expectations.

Interest is compounded (For example a missed compounding repayment)

Hypercore supports the ability to include standard fees or deposits when a new loan is created. This can include common items such as 

interest reserves, origination fees, and underwriting fees

, which are usually common on all or majority of your loans. These can be pre-configured to populate as part of the loan terms.

If you’d like to enable or update your standard fees/deposits, please reach out to your

Tip: To quickly search for a loan by name or ID, press

You can filter loans by the following categories:

 Expand any filter category and choose one or more values.
 

 The loan list will update immediately to show matching loans.  

 If you frequently use certain filters (for example, to always see Active loans with a balance over $5 million or all loans for a specific facility), you can save them as a

After the initial loan terms were submitted, click

Breaking down repayments is crucial as it lets you control how payments are applied to different components.

A comprehensive guide to understanding and managing OID (Original Issue Discount), Effective Interest Rate (EIR), Restructure scenarios, and troubleshooting tips in Hypercore.

This discount is amortized over time and contributes to the 

 — the true cost of the loan, including fees and discounts.

In Hypercore, the system automatically calculates:

 – Derived from the loan’s cash flow structure.

 – The total discount amount to be amortized over the loan’s life.

 – The portion of OID amortized as income/expense in each period.

2. What is Effective Interest Rate (EIR)?

 is the actual annual rate of return (or cost) on a loan, taking into account the timing and amount of all related cash flows, fees, and discounts. It often differs from the stated interest rate because it reflects the true economics of the transaction.

 feature that freezes OID calculations up to a certain date to protect reporting accuracy.

 OID values are automatically locked for a configurable number of days (based on client preference), depending on the account's configuration. This is defined in the 

 You can update the Lock Date field manually if you wish to freeze calculations through a different cutoff date.

💡 Locking is based on financial reporting best practices and ensures that past values used in finalized reports remain unchanged, even if loan terms are later adjusted. 

 Even if a lock is in place, you can still use the OID Restructure feature (see next section) to apply updated calculations from a designated 

 forward. This allows for forward-looking accuracy while preserving past reporting.

When historical loan data has changed (e.g., due to amendments, rate changes, or fee adjustments), OID calculations may become inaccurate.

 recalculates OID values according to the current loan structure, treating the present terms as if they had always been in effect. The calculation also incorporates previous cash flow data.

Use the Restructure feature when you want to allow the system to override previously locked OID values. This is particularly useful in scenarios where loan data wasn’t updated in a timely manner  - for example, if the user continued managing loans outside of Hypercore (e.g., in Excel) and only later imported or updated the loan data in the system.

While changes such as interest rate updates, OID component edits, or historical uploads may prompt recalculations, a restructure is not always required for those actions unless the goal is to retroactively reflect them in locked period.

Set the Restructure Date, which determines when the system will begin recalculating OID based on previous changes

Automates recalculations instead of requiring manual entries

, so even if OID values are locked, a restructure will still recalculate forward from the specified restructure date
